Alice Maggio grew up in Berkshire County, Massachusetts and is an alumna of Berkshire Children’s Chorus. As a member of the Chorus she had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall and at the inauguration of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. Her career in community development lends itself well to her work with Berkshire Children’s Chorus. From 2012 to 2017 she worked at the Schumacher Center for a New Economics, starting as an intern and growing into her subsequent role as the Director of Programs and the Executive Director of BerkShares, the Berkshire region’s local currency. In her role as Senior Project Officer at The Working World, a certified Community Development Financial Institution in New York City, she offered financing and technical assistance to worker-owned cooperative businesses. She is currently Manager of Sustainable Business Development at Business Outreach Center Network in NYC, helping businesses to take advantage of new opportunities in renewable energy and climate solutions. She completed her B.A. in Sociology and French Studies at Wesleyan University and her M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University. She brings her public relations and writing skills to the Board of the Berkshire Children’s Chorus, on which she has served since 2014.
